Grace and peace to you in these trying times.

You have likely heard that our provincial government has declared a state of public health emergency.  We currently have over 18,000 active COVID cases in Alberta.  Nearly 900 people are hospitalized, including over in 200 people in ICU.   New COVID-19 restrictions were announced yesterday for Alberta.  Our worship capacity is temporarily capped at 1/3 of fire code capacity. For our sanctuary, that is 266 people. To protect our people, we will implement the following protocols:

  • Rope off every other pew so worshipers can maintain the 2-meter physical distancing requirement. People in the same household may sit together. If people live alone, they may sit with their two close contacts.
  • Small groups will meet online. Prayer meeting at the church will continue to meet in person, since participants will be masked, and the 2-meter rule will be followed.
  • Sabbath School Divisions will function at 1/3 of fire code capacity. Mandatory masking is in effect for students in Grades 4 and up (Primary B), plus staff and teachers in all Divisions.
  • Masks are mandatory for worship. Worship leaders and singers may remove their masks when on stage.
  • Children will remain with their family during the children’s story. They will not come up front for the story.
  • Funerals and weddings at the church are currently capped at a maximum of 50 people. There will be no receptions until the government lifts these temporary restrictions.
  • Pathfinders and Adventurers will be allowed to meet in person. Mandatory masking is required for grades 4 and up. Two meters of separation will be maintained between participants who are not from the same household.

Please join me in praying for our front-line medical workers, many of whom are working overtime during this crisis. They are stressed out and worn out.  Please uplift them in prayer.  Also keep praying for the individuals who are battling COIVD-19.  Many families are struggling.
